About ArtSpider

NH Made LogoArtSpider is a NH-based organization whose mission is to make connections in the New Hampshire arts community. We define "arts" in its broadest sense, as encompassing all expressions of aesthetic creativity from folk art to fine art, including crafts, photography, performance and the written or spoken word. We define the community as all those interested in art: the artists themselves, the businesses and venues which cater to them, the state and private organizations who serve them, and the audience which views and purchases their work.

This site is a web-based hub which uses the connectivity of the Internet to link together all aspects of the NH arts community in an easily searchable database. The purpose of this site is to promote the arts by facilitating the flow of information, making it quicker and easier to find out, for example:

  • Where to buy supplies
  • What classes and workshops are available
  • Where to find venues and what those venues offer
  • Other artists looking to collaborate on projects
  • Organizations that could provide advice and assistance
  • Shows and fairs, either to participate in, or shop at
  • Times and dates of performances of music or theater

As part of the ArtSpider mission, we also post articles to inform and instruct, to raise awareness about interesting events and projects going on, and to help publicize the vibrant richness and diversity of NH arts and artists.

Apart from our web presence, ArtSpider also organizes ArtSpider Events, which are multi-media happenings in which representatives of different branches of the arts are invited to meet in one venue and share their work. Our mission is to facilitate connections using the tool of the Internet, but then to bring those connections into the real world, into the community, by bringing people together to experience art as it was meant to be experienced: up close, and personal. If you would like to assist with arranging and organizing an ArtSpider event in your community, email us!

At the center of ArtSpider's web are Larry and Justine Graykin, co-founders and webmasters. However, from that center point the web rapidly begins expanding outwards to include dozens and then hundreds of people who have helped to build the web and who help to maintain it. Every person who becomes a member becomes a part of the web, and thus ArtSpider is about them.
